Executive Assistant® ReadMe: Scan a Document
To scan a Document for the first time, follow each of these
steps. Depending on the Documents you scan in the future,
you might skip from step 1 all the way to step 10.
- Click the Scan Documents button on the Main Menu.
- If you’re opening the scanning module for the first time, the system creates a File Cabinet named "My File Cabinet" for you. Click the OK button to bypass the dialog. You can rename this File Cabinet by opening the File Cabinets menu and selecting Rename.
- Next, let’s setup your scanner.
- Open the Options menu and select the Select Scanner menu item.
- Select your scanner in the list of scanners and click the OK button.
- If a subsequent dialog appears, set the appropriate options (such as default paper size and default SCSI device) for your scanner and press OK.
- In the File Type list box, select TIFF (*.TIF). The Document you scan in will be stored as a TIFF file.
- In the Mode list, select Black & White.
- Place a Document into the scanner.
- If your Document has only one page, skip this step. Otherwise:
- Check the Multi-Page box.
- If your Documents is double-sided and you have duplexing hardware, check the Duplex box.
- If your Document is double-sided and you do not have duplexing hardware, check the Scan Backs box.
- Set the file naming options as follows:
- In the File Name By group, select Auto Number Suffix.
- In the Starting Number text box, enter 1.
- In the File Prefix text box, enter a name you would use to recognize the file. If you enter "test", your file will be named "test1.tif".
- Save your settings by clicking the Save Settings button.
- Click the Scan Single Page button to scan a single page or click the Scan Batch button to scan multiple pages.
