Import Documents to Queue

The Executive Assistant® enables you to import files already on your computer and associate them with your scanned Documents. Imported files can be of any file type: MS Word® documents, text files, as well as TIFF, JPEG, and PDF files can be imported.

Imported images can take advantage of the powerful filtering utilities made available in the Scan Documents module. Please note that the Executive Assistant® may not be able to view images altered by other image editing programs.

To import existing files, follow these steps:

  1. Open the File Cabinets menu and select the File Cabinet into which you intend to import the files.
  2. Open the Options menu and select the Import Documents to Queue menu item.
  3. Consider whether you want the original files deleted after they are imported. If moving Document files from one File Cabinet to another, for example, you would want to delete the files from the original File Cabinet's queue. Place a check mark in the Selected files will be deleted after they are added to the queue check box to delete the files after they are imported.
  4. In the left-hand pane, browse for the directory containing the files to be imported.
  5. In the right-hand pane, select the files to be imported. To preview an image before importing it, right-click on the file's name to view its first page.
  6. To import the files into the current File Cabinet's Queue, click the Process button.
  7. To return to the main filing screen, click the Close button.
  8. The imported Documents now appear in the Files in Queue list and are ready to be filed alongside your scanned Documents.
